Key changes from ISO 9001:2015
- Climate change in the context (4.1 / 4.2) — Climate change, introduced by the 2024 amendment, is now part of the core requirements for context and interested parties.
- Quality culture and ethics (5.1) — Top management must promote a quality culture and ethical behaviour, not only commitment to the QMS.
- Quality policy (5.2) — The policy must reflect the strategic direction and the context of the organisation more clearly.
- Risks and opportunities (6.1) — Risks and opportunities are separated into dedicated sub-clauses, making the planning logic clearer.
- Awareness (7.3) — Awareness now covers quality culture and ethical conduct.
- Operation and improvement (8, 10) — Wording and layout aligned with the harmonised structure; improvement is linked more closely to leadership.
- Guidance (Annex A) — Expanded non-mandatory guidance for clauses 4 to 10 helps interpretation.

Frequently asked questions
When was ISO 9001:2026 published?
ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026 and replaces ISO 9001:2015.
How long is the transition to ISO 9001:2026?
A three-year transition is expected, to around September 2029. The exact dates are set under IAF rules and communicated by your certification body; your ISO 9001:2015 certificate stays valid during the transition.

It is an evolution, not a revolution. The clause structure is the same; the main changes are quality culture and ethics, clearer risk and opportunity planning, climate change in the context and expanded guidance.
Can we certify directly to ISO 9001:2026?
Yes. New certifications can be made against the 2026 edition once your certification body is accredited for it — most organisations starting now should design their QMS on ISO 9001:2026 from day one.
Do you support ISO 9001:2026 in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman?
Yes. From Dubai we support transitions and new certifications across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, in English and Arabic.
